Listen, listen. I need you to hear me,
As I seek releasement from the silence
That imprisons me. Shouted or whispered,
I don’t want my words to fall on deaf ears.
I hear myself stuttering, hesitate,
Speak haltingly, unable to express,
Articulate thought, as silence slips from
The tip of my tongue, words remain captive
In mind, kicking and screaming, desperate
To unlock confinement, freely convey
Feeling, need to communicate, and yet,
When words manage to escape, they echo
With profound sense of absence, sound hollow.
Locked in the silence that imprisons me.
